New Hampshire Right to Life 2003
Life Lights Scholarship Program
Overview
Since its
formation, NH Right to Life has been dedicated to assisting and developing
principled and passionate pro-life leaders among New Hampshire's youth.
Through direct involvement with many community organizations, NH Right to Life
has seen first hand the energetic and exceptional leadership of pro-life young
adults.
In our continued efforts to recognize and develop
pro-life leadership and convictions among New Hampshire's youth, NH Right to
Life is offering the 2003 "Life Lights" Pro-life Scholarship to two graduating
high school seniors. These $500 scholarships will be awarded to
two young adults who meet the following requirements, complete the application
process, and are chosen by the selection committee. This year, one
scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been accepted at a NH College
or University (public or private). Another scholarship will be
awarded to a student who has been accepted at an out-of-state College or
University.
Requirements
Students
must meet the following requirements to be eligible:
- Are graduating seniors (home schooled students are eligible).
- Have been accepted at and will be attending a College or
University.
- Have completed the application requirements (see below).
Application
- Write a short summary of your pro-life activities. Entitle
this "Pro-life Involvement". In this summary, detail pro-life
activities in which you have been involved. This might include, but is
not limited to, making a pro-life speech in school, attending a hearing
concerning, for example, "assisted suicide" legislation, trying to dissuade
someone from having an abortion, or attending a pro-life event. This
section does not have to be long, but should include enough detail to give
the selection committee a good idea of the kind and extent of your pro-life
involvement.
- Provide two letters of recommendation
from adults who are familiar with your pro-life involvement.
These persons are to be non-relatives. These references could be
written by a pastor, a pro-life leader, a teacher, or some other adult
familiar with your pro-life convictions and activities.
- In 2 to 4 double spaced pages (entitled "Essay")
address the following two questions. You are encouraged to do
some background research for this essay.
- Why is it important for people to restore and protect the personhood and right to life of all innocent human life
beginning at fertilization until natural death, without exception and
without compromise?
- Why is it important for your generation to be involved in
pro-life efforts and in what ways can your generation help the pro-life
movement?
- Please be sure to include your name, address, and phone number
with your application.
The completed application must be postmarked no later than June
15, 2003 and mailed to NH Right to Life, Attn. Jim Rioux, POBox 421, Merrimack, NH 03054.
Formed in 1968 by various pro-life, pro-family leaders from across the
state, NH Right to Life currently represents more than twenty thousand NH
families who are committed to defending each and every pre-board baby from
abortion. Our principles are founded in God's Word, not what the public
opinion polls say. Our mission is to be obedient and faithful in
proclaiming the Truth.
Our educational arm, the Educational Trust, serves you with a
resource center containing a wide variety of information (including many
brochures, books, and videos) on topics ranging from abortion to pre-natal
development to euthanasia and abortifacients. The Trust also provides
"Student Packs" to help students educate their peers through papers and
speeches. The Trust conducts projects like pro-life advertising,
billboard initiatives, town and county fair booths, and our Scholarship Fund,
all focused on defending the right to life. Since the NH Right to
Life educates the public on life issues, gifts are tax-deductible by 501(c)3
rules.
