Chester Rod & Gun Club offers a Sporting Clays
course utilizing a combination of electronic and manual traps.
The course is open to the public April through September on Wednesday
evenings starting at 5:30 PM, and Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM.
Signup for the events is 1/2 hour before start times. The event is
only run weather permitting so always check the
CRnG CALENDAR
for
confirmation on the day of the event. The course consists of a 50 clay target
(bird) presentation with a new layout every week. Depending on
the number of shooters, squads are formed of approximately 6 shooters.
Once the squads are formed they proceed around the course, consisting of six
stations, where presentations of 4 or 5 pairs of clay targets are shot for a
total of 8 or 10 targets per station. The presentations consist
of various targets shot from different angles and distances and vary at each
station with no duplication. A presentation consisting of a pair
of targets can be delivered as a report pair, or simultaneous pair (simo).
Each shooter is allowed only two shots per presentation.
Sporting Clays is a fun shooting
experience for the whole family, providing challenges for all shooters, from
the beginner to the very experienced. No special guns or
equipment are required, however a shotgun shell bag capable of holding 60
rounds will be needed. For a safe shoot, appropriate eye and
hearing protection is required for shooters and
spectators.
Wobble Trap
Chester Rod & Gun Club now offers Clays shooters
Wobble Trap, the newest and fastest growing element of clay
shooting. The Wobble Trap is shot from the Five Stand with targets
(birds) launched from a single trap house randomly presented at various
angles and trajectories that are unknown to the shooter. Each shooter
rotates through five shooting stations, and is presented with five targets
at each station, consisting of a single and two report pairs, for a total of
twenty-five targets. Wobble Trap is an extremely challenging and fun
clay shooting experience testing the shooters ability to react to targets
launched at an undetermined angle and trajectory, with no presentations ever
being repeated.
